Chet Thomas is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at Level 2 (previously Intermediate Junior I) with over 20 years as a student in the Iyengar method. The Iyengar certification process requires several years of yoga practice, study and teaching, as well as a rigorous examination process with demonstrated teaching, asana, and pranayama, as well as written testing on asana sequencing, anatomy, and yoga sutras.
Chet's classes are challenging and fun, with occasional outbreaks of dry humor. He enjoys working with students regarding health issues or to help them achieve their own yoga "firsts," a headstand or a full unsupported backbend, for example.
Chet regularly attends workshops with advanced level Iyengar instructors - either online or in person. He studied regularly throughout the certification process with senior teacher Kathleen Pringle at Stillwater Yoga in Atlanta. In May, 2010, he attended the Iyengar yoga teachers conference in Portland, which focused on therapeutics and was led by Geeta Iyengar. In May, 2015, Chet was in Denver for an Iyengar teachers workshop on yoga and the lower back. In December, 2015, he attended Geeta Iyengar's Yoganusasanam, an 8 day yoga intensive in Pune, India.
Introductory I Certification - 2008
Introductory II Certification - 2009
Intermediate Junior I Certification - 2017 - now designated Level 2
Chet is also registered with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 500 level.
